Digital Sports Group announce first Man Utd award for Robin van Persie.

In his final season as Arsenal captain Robin van Persie scooped the triple crown of PFA Players Player of the Year, PFA Fans’ Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year and he has started his first season at Manchester United in a similar vein by winning the first PFA Fans’ Player of the Month Award of the 2012/13 Premier League season Digital Sports Group announced today.

In his final season as Arsenal captain Robin van Persie scooped the triple crown of PFA Players Player of the Year, PFA Fans’ Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year and he has started his first season at Manchester United in a similar vein by winning the first PFA Fans’ Player of the Month Award of the 2012/13 Premier League season. The award, voted for by fans across the world on http://www.football.co.uk , covers matches played during both August and September 2012 and is a clear indication of how well the Dutch striker has adapted to life at Old Trafford following his high profile switch from the Emirates. Van Persie scored seven goals in the opening weeks of the season and has quickly become a darling of the United faithful.

The Award is one of the four divisional Awards voted for in open polls conducted by the PFA’s Digital Media Partner, Digital Sports Group. The Award winners for the Football League Championship, League 1 and League 2 are;

Football League Championship: Peter Whittingham – Cardiff
With four wins from five in September Cardiff City stormed up the Football Championship table, where they currently sit first. Peter Whittingham won the Championship player of the month due to his six goals scored already this season, five in September. Cardiff look like the team to beat this season in the Championship – and appear destined for a long waited promotion to The Barclays Premier League. As long as Whittingham continues to score it may just happen.

Football League One: Gary Liddle – Notts County
Notts County currently find themselves fourth. in League One. With three wins and two draws, they went the whole of September unbeaten. Liddle won the PFA Player of The Month award for his performances this season. Able to play across midfield and defence – his versatality is key to Notts County's hopes for promotion this season. Liddle played every game for Notts County in September. With performances in central midfield and centre half, the 26 year old will be a key player for Notts County this season.

Football League Two: Danny Kedwell – Gillingham
Danny Kedwell won the PFA Player of The Month Award for his five goals in a Gillingham shirt this season. Gillingham earned 10 points in September including three wins. They are currently top of League 2 with an impressive goal difference of +17. Two of Kedwell's five goals were penalties – showing Danny's lethal poaching abilities in the box. His five goals in total for September saw him jump to fourth in the goal scoring charts in League 2. With nine goals in total so far, Kedwell will be crucial to Gillingham's promotion campaign.
